Xocoatl — v0.1.7

Save folders are easier to move and repair, the landing screen is clearer, and the Timeline Animator explains more while you work.

Runtime bundle bumped — reinstall/update Install Runtime from the plugin landing screen if you use timeline playback in-game.

Changes

Saves and runtime

  • The default saves folder is now ReplicatedStorage/XocoatlSaves (child folders include SavedUIAnimations, SavedUIAssets, ColorPresets, Keybinds, PreviewSettings, and RT).
  • Xocoatl tags the saves root with XocoatlPersistenceRoot, so the plugin and runtime can still find it after you move or rename the folder.
  • Old ChocosToolsSaves projects still work: Xocoatl tags the legacy folder and renames it to XocoatlSaves when safe. If both old and new folders exist, Xocoatl warns instead of merging or overwriting data.
  • If multiple folders have the persistence tag, Xocoatl blocks ambiguous operations until you repair with Locate Xocoatl Saves Folder.
  • Runtime version checks and clip discovery use the same saves-root behaviour as the plugin.
  • Tools → Xocoatl features → Locate Xocoatl Saves Folder — select the correct Folder in Explorer to move the tag and create any missing child folders.

{% hint style="warning" %} Rojo users

If Xocoatl renames ChocosToolsSaves to XocoatlSaves, update your Rojo project map so Studio and Rojo agree.

{% endhint %} Landing screen

  • Center card — setup steps when idle; Set Target / Use Template when a UI object has no saves yet; compact header and clickable save rows when the selection already has animations.
  • Theme chooser (left) — compact scrollable pack list that fits smaller dock sizes; variant detail reflows to available height.
  • Status card (right) — runtime install/update, plugin version (semver + status; hover for v0.1.7 - B23 - P7), manual update check, and update/patch prompts on open.

Timeline Animator workflow

  • The Add Property picker treats already-tracked properties like toggles — click again to remove.
  • ScreenGui Enabled — when your target is a ScreenGui, a toast offers Track + Enabled at 0s so the UI is visible in-game (especially if the ScreenGui is off in Studio). Adding Enabled manually shows the same helper; Frame targets get a nudge to use the parent ScreenGui instead.
  • Preview reminder card in the top-right notification stack while a preview clone is open (disable in Preferences → UI).
  • New animation tour — skippable walkthrough for elements, properties, keyframes, preview, saving, closing, and in-game playback; optional Add script inserts a ready-to-run LocalScript. Disable in Preferences → UI.
  • Frame targets explain that only that subtree is animated; particle menus and preview warnings are clearer when the setup cannot host particles.
  • Tooltips on important empty-state and timeline actions (Set Target, add element/property, Close Animation, etc.).

Preferences

  • Flat settings list with optional Show more detail per row (Keybinds, UI, Experimental).

Options

  • Options → Report opens the Developer Forum plugin thread directly (bugs and feature requests; Discord link is in the first post).

Thanks for trying Xocoatl — feedback and bug reports are welcome.
